"Are you ready to hunt? Listen first β then we go!"
If a child points at the wrong object during preview ("Window!"), acknowledge then redirect: "Yes β a window! Today our word is door. Point to the door with me."
If a child stands and walks toward objects before Hunt starts, pause: "Walking feet wait for the Hunt. Sit on your spot β I will call you soon."
If a child says a silly word instead of Ready ("Banana!"), smile: "Bananas are yellow β and we are ready! Thumbs up!"
- Door greeting: Hello to each child + invite to circle spot.
- Look Β· Listen Β· Sit with cards β 3-second settle wait.
- Flash five object cards quickly β "Today we hunt these in our room!"

Step 3 Β· Opening Up (β8 min)
Purpose: MAIN activity β Classroom Hunt TPR with open / close / point to commands.
Teacher Β· Hunt rules
"Classroom Hunt! I say a command β you do it. Walking feet only. No running."
"Point to the door!" (model pointing) "Like this β one finger, point to the door."
"Open the door!" (model slow open β or mime if door is far) "Close the door! Gentle β quiet close."
"Point to the table! Point to your chair! Open your book!"
Teacher Β· Round prompts
"Round one β easy. Point to the door. Point to the table. Sit on your chair!"
"Round two β open and close. Open your book. Close your book. Open β close β open β close!"
"Round three β pencil! Point to your pencil. Tap your pencil on the table β tap, tap, tap!"
Teacher Β· Freeze reset
"If you hear the bell β freeze! Hands on head. Wait for my next word."
"Hunt finished β walking feet back to your spot. Sit. Quiet book in your lap."
Teacher Β· Quick object check
"Before we sit for sounds β quick check! What is this?" (hold door card) "Door!"
"What is this?" (hold pencil card) "Pencil! Point to your pencil β one finger!"
"Hunt heroes β back to your spot. Sit. Phonics time!"
If a child confuses open and close, model slowly without scolding: "Open is big β like this. Close is small β like this. Try again β open your book."
If a child points with whole hand instead of one finger, demonstrate: "One finger β like a pencil point. Point to the door."
If a child runs during Hunt, ring bell immediately: "Freeze. Walking feet only. We try again β point to the chair."
If a child touches a friend's object, redirect: "Your pencil. Point to your pencil. Gentle hands on your things."

"Letter B." (show card) "Point to the book! Tap the book β buh, buh, buh!"
Teacher Β· /p/ pencil sound
"Pencil starts with P! P says p-p-pencil. Puh-puh-puh. Lips together β puff of air. Puh!"
"Letter P." (show card) "Point to your pencil! Tap tap tap β puh, puh, puh!"
"Partner time β A points to book, B says buh! Switch β A points to pencil, B says puh!"

"P!" (hold P card) "Puh β point to pencil β tap tap tap!"
"Faster β B β P β B β P! I heard book and pencil sounds!"
Teacher Β· Praise frames
"Wow! I heard buh!"
"Super pencil sound β puh!"
"Your lips pop perfectly β book and pencil!"
"High five for listening β buh and puh!"
If /b/ and /p/ sound the same, compare side by side: "Buh has voice β feel your throat buzz. Puh has air only β no voice." Hand on throat helps.
If a child taps too hard on the book, redirect: "Gentle tap β buh, buh. We love our book."
If a child makes silly lip noises instead of buh/puh, reset with model: "Watch my lips pop β buh! Your turn β buh!"
